A good start is half the battle and so it was at Labasheeda today when Kilmihil met Kildysart in the first round of the Championship. Martin O'Leary kicked the first point after four minutes and David Ryan added another after ten minutes.
Kilmihil dominated the game and by half time the scoreboard read: Kilmihil 0-09 Kildysart 0-03.
Some of us might have been expecting the lads to coast through the second half when Martin O'Leary tapped over a free just after the resumption but Kildysart had other ideas and fought their way back into the game. The half was fragmented with a lot of stoppages and our second half performance did not match up to that of the first half.
Kildysart got a grip at midfield and reduced the margin to two with just a few minutes remaining. Kilmihil finally broke down the field and two points in quick succession secured victory on the score of 0-14 to 0-10.
